Chapter 5 · Why TFPA

A shared measure changes what a launch can learn from

Time to First Patient Access is the count of days between approval and the first patient actually receiving a therapy, market by market. On its own it is one number. Shared, it becomes a benchmark the whole field can improve against.

The idea

If we all measure the same thing, we can compare, learn and improve

Today each team tends to absorb a slow launch alone, in private, and describe it as a success in public. A common, transparent benchmark replaces that with a shared baseline, so good practice can be examined, challenged and improved together.

De-Risk. Accelerate. Maximize. Launch Success
Comparison

See where you really stand

A shared unit lets a team see its own time to access against a credible reference for its drug type, indication and markets.

Foresight

Act while it still matters

Measuring the days forward, rather than explaining them afterward, keeps intervention possible before value and access leak away.

Learning

Turn one launch into many lessons

When the measure is common, every launch adds to a shared body of knowledge instead of a private post mortem.

Consistency

Make excellence repeatable

A baseline everyone recognizes is how launch excellence stops being a one time result and becomes a repeatable standard.

In development

We are building the benchmark in the open

The TFPA Global Index is a shared benchmark for time to first patient access, currently in development. It is being shaped with the people who run launches, so it reflects the reality of the work rather than a view handed down to them.

Inside BrandLaunchX, the same forward looking thinking runs through Plannor, Predictor, Recommendor and Accelerator, which help teams plan, see risk early, choose a recovery path, and hold the plan as conditions change.

If repeatable launch excellence is what you strive for, come and help shape the measure.

Tell us your drug type and your two hardest markets, and we will share how we are thinking about the days for launches like yours.
